Yolandas Mexican Cafe

Yolanda’s Mexican Café is your fun, festive, casual neighborhood Mexican restaurant in Ventura County. Founded in 1982 in Oxnard, California, Yolanda’s Mexican Cafe has branched out to the cities of Oxnard, Ventura, Camarillo and Simi Valley. For years, people from all walks of life have returned over and over again, drawn by the friendly atmosphere and authentic Mexican food. Start your fiesta experience with a full order of nachos or zesty bean dip. Indulge in generous portions of festive entrees from sizzling Fajitas or Carnitas Vera Cruz. Experience a taste of tradition and enjoy from a wide selection of Yolanda’s award winning margaritas!

The owners of Yolanda’s Mexican Café restaurant, Rod and Yolanda Gietzen worked in the restaurant industry for several years in the San Fernando Valley prior to opening their own restaurant doors in 1982. From its inception, the Oxnard restaurant was a great success and immediately there was a need to expand the location. Soon customers from nearby Ventura were urging Rod and Yolanda to open another restaurant in their city. In just 2 years of opening the Oxnard location, Yolanda’s of Ventura became a reality and the community has been very supportive ever since.

Nineteen years later on September 10, 2001, after many requests from the customers who reside in Camarillo, Yolanda’s of Camarillo was opened and welcomed with open arms. While Camarillo is the smallest unit, we are delighted with the business and the overwhelming community support. The year 2008 turned out to be a very busy for Yolanda’s. Once again the business was expanding and in January 2008 the Yolanda’s of Simi Valley was open for business. In the same year, due to circumstances beyond our control the original Oxnard location had to be closed. On March 30th, 2008 the 2801 South Saviers Road location closed its doors. There was definitely a mixture of emotions for all of us. It was sad to see the original dream shut its doors, but also excitement for the new adventure to begin.

After 25 years of success in the Oxnard community there was no question that we would re-open elsewhere. When the opportunity arose to open at the beautiful, new Seabridge Market Place over looking the harbor, we took it. And on October 6th, 2008 we re-opened the Oxnard location.

Over the past 28 years the Gietzens have built enduring relationships with customers, landlords, vendors, government leaders, employees, etc. Most of our workforce consists of long-term employees, some of whom have been with us since day one. We believe the success we’ve enjoyed is a direct result of the quality food, service and atmosphere provided at each of our locations. As a family-orientated establishment, we’re very dedicated to enhancing and contributing to each community we’re part of. Rod and Yolanda are community leaders and give of themselves and their resources to help others.

We value our loyal customers and our dedicated staff and as a growing company and we look forward to serving the people of Oxnard, Ventura, Camarillo and Simi Valley.
