So You Think You Know Simi Valley?

Even if you’re an expert on everything Simi Valley has to offer, we’re sure you’ll find some new places to explore on this list. In addition to some of the most beautiful city views in California, Simi Valley is home to many exciting attractions, restaurants, landscapes and more!

Corriganville Park

Originally known as the Corriganville Movie Ranch, Corriganville Park was purchased by actor and stuntman Ray “Crash” Corrigan in 1937. Soon after, the land was home to western street movie sets, an Army fort set, and a Mexican village set, each featuring many working buildings rather than just facades. Over 3,500 movies, TV shows, and commercials were filmed at the ranch over the next three decades. From 1949 to 1965, the ranch was open on weekends and holidays for people who wanted a behind-the-scenes peek at Hollywood movie magic.

Now called Corriganville Park and owned by the Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District, the remaining buildings on the backlot are a great reminder of Hollywood history. Five different hiking, biking, and horseback riding trails wind around the rest of the 246 acres.

Have you ever wanted to try your hand at blacksmithing? Adam’s Forge is the best place in the Los Angeles area to learn! Grandma Prisbrey’s Bottle Village

Here’s an offbeat way to spend some time in Simi Valley: Grandma Prisbrey’s Bottle Village. In 1956, at age 60, Tressa “Grandma” Prisbrey began building a structure on her property to house her extensive pencil collection. Her material of choice? Discarded bottles. Once she completed the first building, Grandma continued building on her land, ultimately erecting 15 structures for her many collections, plus walkways, shrines, wishing wells, and more. She continued building on the site until 1981, and crafting everything from found materials often sourced from the local dump.

A nationally recognized landmark, Bottle Village is one of the only existing folk art sites built by a woman. The 1994 Northridge earthquake left Bottle Village damaged, restricting how much visitors can view up close. Members of the nonprofit Preserve Bottle Village Committee work tirelessly to restore and maintain the site and uphold the memory of Grandma Prisbrey, who died in 1988 at age 92.

Simi Valley offers an unforgettable mix of adventure and culture for anyone seeking a vacation beyond the ordinary. Whether you’re hiking scenic trails or exploring unique attractions, every visit to Simi Valley will be filled with discovery and excitement.
