If you’re in a pumpkiny, fall-themed latte, spooky eats-and-treats kind of mood, we have your go-to list of ten of the best fall festivals and events in and around Simi Valley. From an entire mall decked out for trick-or-treating, to hay rides and a Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration, visit Simi Valley during the month of October for some harvest-season fun that’s perfect for the whole family!

1. Fall Harvest Festival at Underwood Family Farms

A Ventura County favorite, the Fall Harvest Festival at Underwood farms is a Simi Valley original! Every weekend in October, the farm transforms into a harvest wonderland with live music, animal shows, tractor-drawn wagon rides, a big pumpkin patch, and other activities. Kids will enjoy the kid's corral and pedal tractors, as well as a wooden climbing train. Plan to visit the farm anytime from 9am to 6pm.

2. Ghost Hunters Experience at Simi Valley Town Center

Celebrate the season at Simi Valley Town Center with a spooktacular adventure! The Ghost Hunters Experience will kick off on Friday, September 13th, and occur every weekend in the former East Macy's building from 4pm to 8pm. Treat the whole family to this event to explore, capture photos of ghosts or anything spooky you detect, and share on instagram (make sure to tag @Halloween_Experience24) to be crowned the Best Ghost Hunters! The Best Ghost Hunters have a chance to take home incredible tricks and treats baskets, with the first prize of $100! Tickets are 10$ for a spookily good time that everyone will love!

3. Heritage Halloween

The Strathearn Historical Park and Museum is hosting its third annual Heritage Halloween and Magic in the Park on Saturday, October 19 from 4pm – 8:30pm. Families will enjoy fun old-fashioned games from 4-6pm and trick or treating at the historic structures around the park. A costume parade and a brand new magic show close out this unique, free event.

4. 63rd Annual Simi Valley Halloween Youth Carnival

Enjoy a howling good time at Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District’s 63rd annual Halloween Carnival for kids of all ages. Held on Halloween night, October 31st, carnival activities include inflatable bouncers and slides, hayrides, snacks to enjoy, carnival games, carnival booths, a guessing station (with prizes!), face painting, a photo wall, balloon animals, surprise entertainment and more! Food will be available for purchase. Tickets go on sale October 1st, and are $6 for ages 3-12, and $8 for ages 13-18.

5. Dia de los Muertos Celebration

On October 27, celebrate the annual Day of the Dead Celebration at Strathearn Historical Park. This event includes live performances, dancers, live music, food and craft vendors, and crafts for kids. All alters are created by local families. The cost is $8 for adults and $5 for kids ages 5-12. Tickets can soon be purchased online or at the gate for $2 more for adults. Costumes are encouraged!

6. Iceoplex Trunt or Treat and Ice Skating

Have a hauntingly good time at Iceoplex on October 27th, for a halloween-themed ice skating night as well as a free trunk or treat event to follow in the parking lot! The Ice rink will be open from 2:15 to 4:00pm and the chance to get fun tricks and treats from 4-6. Ice skating appropriate costumes are highly encouraged. Tickets for the skate are $15 for those in costume and $17 for those not in costume.

7. Halloween at the Depot

The Simi Valley Santa Susana Train Depot and Museum invites you for trains and treats! On October 26th and 27th, from 1-4pm at the Depot itself. Come in costume and hunt for pumpkins for some free halloween fun and a chance to earn some treats! While there, take a tour of the museum to see the historical artifacts and trains on display!

8. Paint & Sip at the Lucky Dog Coffee

Lucky Dog Coffee is hosting a Halloween Paint & Sip event! Join on October 25th, 6-8pm, for delicious coffee and painting! Make sure to RSVP as a painter by phone for $40 a painter before spots run out. Don't miss out on this spooky opportunity to sip, paint, and get in the Halloween spirit with a fun Beetlejuice theme!

9. Simi Valley Fall Street Fair

The Simi Valley Fall Street Fair will be held on October 26th from 9am-4pm. There will be something for the whole family! This is a free event that will include a costume parade at 12pm, games, contests, food and drink vendors, live music and performances, trick or treating at the vendor booths, and a kids fun zone!

10. Simi Valley Pumpkin Patch

In need of pumpkins for the fall season? Simi Valley pumpkin patch has a huge supply of fresh pumpkins of all shapes and sizes as well as a variety of squash and gourds! Open daily from October 1st-31st, the pumpkin patch also offers all types of fun fall decorations as well as mechanical rides, blow up slides, obstacle courses, bounce houses, and a petting zoo!
